30 landlords/speculators who have abused the Ellis Act to evict seniors and people with disabilities.
The 30 names landlords/speculators have all evicted at least one senior and/or disabled person through the Ellis Act over the last decade. Ethel, an activist and member of Senior and Disability Action, is extremely concerned about her senior community being forced out of their homes. To be senior and/or disabled and to be evicted can cause dire health effects, and at times death. Not only does one lose ones home, but also one's community, social support, and at times access to particular forms of health care. Ethel, along with her fellow organizers, have had enough.
The Anti-Eviction Mapping Project is releasing this list in solidarity with Ethel and with other seniors and people with disabilities. We call upon the The San Francisco Board of Realtors to support the Leno bill to reform the Ellis Act. We also call upon all landlords and speculators to put an immediate halt on evicting any seniors and/or people with disabilities. There seniors and people currently being evicted by serial evictors in San Francisco, such as Patricia Kermin by Kaushik Dattani, Benito Santiago by Michael Harrison, Rene Yanez and Yolanda Lopez by Sergio Iantorno, Mary Elizabeth Phillips by David McCloskey, and Mrs. Montesdeoca by Elba Borgen, to name a few.
We have researched each Ellis Act petition filed at the SF Rent Board to come up with this list. We have included some information about tenants being evicted, and some information about the companies affiliated with the evictors, including tech corporations.
